Peace, Love and Sorrow

Peace, Love and Sorrow & Self Portrait by Duggie Fields

Meet the flamboyant West London painter, whose personality is as colourful as his creations.

Deggie Fields post-pop paintings are instantly recognisable.

Of course, you will be seeing more inspiring artwork on this blog in order to trigger 'Z' inspiration needed for all of you out there, interested in participating in ArabAd Peace Poster Design Contest.

If you have a say on Peace, what are you waiting for?...

Please Read well rules and regulations, as some people are getting confused--donno why though!! thought we were clear enough--
Anyhow, it's not about designing another one of those Peace symbols, rather it is about Art, where you'd be sending out a message to the world that speaks about Peace, and where the Peace sign would be embedded in the artwork (as a mandatory element since and after all, we're celebrating its 50 years), whether it is an exclusive type designed message or a visual, just find subtle way to include the sign.

It is extremely important that designers/artists develop a simple [or complex] design with ideas about how Peace could/should/must operate in society; the artwork should influence emotions and ideas, and be part of a movement for social change.

ArabAd is on the look out for powerful ideas and inspirational art that we can publicise broadly in all media and in the public space.
We especially want to see multilingual submissions.
We want posters that build connections between art, international struggles, social issues that trigger a debate, ultimately a better understanding.
We want posters that are both imaginative and relevant to be able to use your art to transform and inform a radical consciousness, sustain the critical thinking and to move the people.
As graphic designers and artists, you have the power --and the means obviously-- to lend authority to messages that would normally be seen on the fringes of society.

Through ArabAd Peace Poster Design Contest, you gain access to the official channels of communication & the organisations, institutions, leaders and media that have great sway over social values and priorities.
What ArabAd magazine will be placing in these channels is an attempt to challenge, influence, provoke and illuminate attitudes.

ARABAD PEACE POSTER DESIGN CONTEST IS SET TO BE A FORCE OF A CHANGE,
INSPIRING AUDIENCES TOWARD CREATIVE EXPRESSION & CULTURAL ACTIVISM.

The deadline is June 30, 2008 — designs will be curated and printed this summer in Beirut, and touring the Middle East afterwards.
Full details on the submission process and specs for designs are available here on this blog, just scroll down a bit.
